Insert for adverse s202 homelessness review decision - explanation of appeal rights

Text that may be inserted into a letter that is used to notify an adverse decision on a homelessness review (under section 202 of the Housing Act 1996).

The text explains to the applicant:

  • Their right to appeal to the county court, and
  • The time limit for appealing.

But also:

  • What 'a point of law' means.
  • Where they can go to obtain independent legal advice.
  • The contact details for the Council's legal department, so that the applicant's representatives have the necessary details, should they be issuing an appeal, or if they wish to contact the council before issuing an appeal under section 204 of the 1996 Act.
