Local connection referral letters

There are letters for notifying applicants and notifying other councils and both for when you've requested the referral and when you're responding to a referral initiated by another council.

Requesting referral - notifying the other authority

• Seeking a referral / notifying other authority that s.198 conditions met
• Standard notification form (excerpted from the Local Authorities' Agreement).

1st notification to applicant

• Relief duty would otherwise be owed / no interim accommodation duty
• Relief duty would otherwise be owed / interim accommodation duty owed
• Main housing duty would otherwise be owed

Referral agreed - 2nd notification to applicant

• Relief duty owed by other council / applicant not in temporary accommodation
• Relief duty owed by other council / applicant in temporary accommodation
• Main duty owed by other council

Referral agreed - letters to other council

• Sending copies of s.189A assessment notifications
• Requesting reimbursement of accommodation costs from receiving authority (I have to ask, does anyone do this?)

Withdrawing your referral request - notifying the applicant

• s.189B(2) relief duty owed (but not the interim TA duty)
• s.189B(2) relief duty & s.199A(4)(c) accommodation duty owed
• main s.193(2) housing duty owed

Responding to a referral request by another authority
